Kassia Karr is a photographer and writer currently based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. At present, she is a Master's candidate in the University Professor's Program at Boston University, with an interdisciplinary concentration focusing on South Asian and development studies. At Boston University, she is the teaching assistant of Dr. Brenda Gael McSweeney, the research assistant for the UNESCO Chair/University Twinning (UNITWIN) Network on Gender, Culture, and People-Centered Development, a research assistant for the Equality Burkina initiative, and the program assistant for BU Women's Studies Program.
Kassia has spent a considerable amount of time in India, both traveling and conducting academic research. Her academic interests are many and varied, but are primarily focused within the Indian subcontinent. In addition, she can read, write and speak both intermediate Tamil and basic Hindi/Urdu. Kassia is planning to return to India for her third stay in mid-2010.
In addition to her academic career, Kassia also has a number of creative pursuits. This website contains a selection of Kassia's personal photography, design, and written work.
